Enjoy and Celebrate the 4th of July! Don’t Forget Why

the 4th of July in Atlanta - Patriotic events near some Brock Built homes

Since the 4th of July falls on a Saturday this year, your weekend plans are likely to be filled with plenty of friends, family, food, and fireworks. Not to mention local concerts, parades, and other patriotic celebrations for everyone to experience and enjoy. All of these things make the 4th of July consistently one of the most popular holidays in America but do you know why we celebrate this holiday the way we do?

Our National Day

As your holiday weekend festivities begin, don’t forget to remember why the 4th is officially called Independence Day. The name observes the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, and equally celebrates our declared independence from Britain. For this reason July 4th is also considered the National Day for the United States of America, when we honor the founding of our Country and Nation in the eyes of the World.

Enjoy the Show

Obviously, one of the most popular ways to commemorate Independence Day is by attending a local fireworks show, but did you know that fireworks on the 4th of July were always intended to be part of the annual celebrations planned by one of America’s founding fathers, John Adams? Think about his patriotic vision being fulfilled as you enjoy the show! We hope you and yours have a safe and happy 4th this year.
