Sandestin is a resort development located in the Florida Panhandle between Destin and Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. The community was established more than 45 years ago and offers travelers, couples, and families plenty of beach activities, outdoor adventures, shops, dining, and more to explore.

Though Sandestin is considered its own community, the address for Sandestin Downtown is located within Miramar Beach, Florida.


What is the difference between Destin and Sandestin?

Sandestin is a community development located near Destin–roughly 8 miles to the east. Despite their similar names, Sandestin and Destin are not the same community. In fact, they’re located in two different counties! Sandestin is in Walton County, whereas Destin is located in Okaloosa County.

Both Destin and Sandestin offer exciting attractions, shops, dining, recreation, and–best of all–the beach. However, Sandestin is a smaller, more intimate community. If you enjoy a quieter and family-friendly beach town, you’ll love Sandestin!

Spend the Day at the Beach
Of all the things to do in Sandestin, there’s nothing like a day at the beach. The Emerald Coast has award-winning warm, emerald green gulf waters and sandy beaches, and Sandestin offers a quiet, private place to grab some sun and sand. Carry your beach chair (or rent one with an umbrella!) to sit oceanfront and listen to the waves. Play volleyball, bodysurf, or just read a book. You can even stay out all day! Sandestin’s unique position on the beach and the Choctawhatchee Bay means double the opportunities to play on the water. Other shopping attractions of Sandestin include The Village of Baytowne Wharf and The Market Shops. These quaint Sandestin shopping districts offer local goods, boutique clothing, souvenirs, and beach gear.
