There is an award winning, popular floor plan offered by Atlanta home builder, Brock Built, that isn’t just attractive to customers, but is also a Brock family favorite! In fact, Adam, Jeff and Bonnie have all chosen this popular floor plan for their own homes—a true testament to the belief that Brock Built offers the best, highest quality semi-custom homes and designs in the metro Atlanta area. The Camellia offers four bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths, a media room, hobby room, basement option and endless custom features. We were able to interview the Brocks and their spouses to get the scoop on what makes the Camellia such a popular floor plan with family, critics, and customers alike. We also wanted to find out what they believe sets their company apart from other semi-custom home builders in Atlanta. Q: All three of you and your spouses chose to use the Camellia in your own homes. What made you choose this particularly popular floor plan? Bonnie and Jordan: All of the rooms flow together very well. We felt that the house had the right feeling for us. There is no disconnect between the rooms, and that is something I was looking for in a new home. There is also a lot of natural light that comes into the home. We loved that there was a back deck that would work great for grill outs, and give us plenty of room for socializing. Having space for everyone to come over is essential when you have a large family like we do. Jeff and Courtney: It has a great layout, open design on the first floor, is spacious and has a large amount of bedrooms. Adam and Haley: We chose this floor plan because it has a media room for the kids to have a space of their own, and a hobby room/office so we didn’t have to forfeit a bedroom to use as our office space. Q: What are your favorite features in the home? Bonnie and Jordan: This question was a hard one to answer, because I love all the features my home. A few specifics though, I really like that the floor plan is so open and spacious. One “must have” item for me was an open kitchen and living room area. The size of the bedrooms is also great, as well as the size of the closet in the master. Jeff and Courtney: The kitchen and living room—we like the openness between the two rooms. It is a good place to entertain! Adam and Haley: We love the large open kitchen, family room, back deck, finished 3rd floor retreat, and the spacious owner’s suite. Q: With Brock Built, home buyers have options to customize their homes to fit their own personality and tastes. What are some of the custom features that each of you chose in the Camellia? Bonnie and Jordan: We chose to finish our basement and leave the attic unfinished. This will allow me to have a craft room and my husband to have a “man cave.” We picked dark cabinets with beautiful, light-colored granite. We tiled our entire basement, with the exception of the bedroom, so that our dogs could hang out or run around on rainy days. A wood-burning, stone fireplace is something I really envisioned my new home having, and we used Fox Mountain stone to complete it. I chose a neutral paint pallet for my home because I really like to bring in color using pictures, paintings, and knick-knacks. Courtney: Jeff and I really needed to go through our “dream” list of upgrades and pick and choose what was right for us to invest the money in. I don’t like thinking of upgrade as just “a more expensive option,” I look at them as an investment. We decided our two biggest areas we wanted to put our money toward were the kitchen and carpeting. Since I love to cook, I really had always dreamed of a gourmet kitchen. We went with the GE appliance package that includes the designer hood, gas cooktop and the double ovens—one is actually a micro/convection oven! Another major thing for us was carpet. We have two large dogs and they track in dirt like it is their job! So, we wanted to invest in carpet that would withstand the kind of wear and tear we would give it. We went with a Shaw carpet that has an R2X stain and soil resistant treatment. It is AMAZING! Once treated, these carpet fibers do not allow liquids to penetrate them, any accidents on the carpet just blot right up and it practically dries instantly. The carpet also bounces back really well, we have been in our house a year and it still looks brand new! Adam and Haley: We chose to have our home placed on a basement as well as having the finished 3rd floor retreat, giving us a four-story house. We also covered our back deck so we are able to spend A LOT of our time enjoying our outdoor living space. Q: What sets Brock Built apart from other Atlanta area home builders? Bonnie and Jordan: Brock Built Homes really is a family-owned and operated business. Brock is not a production business where buyers “get what they get.” Our customers can be involved in the process of their home from start to finish, and really get to create the home that they want and envision for themselves and their families. Jeff and Courtney: Brock Built is not a “spec home” builder, but is a semi-custom homebuilder that offers an abundance of plans and options. They are willing to sit down and go through every part of the home with the buyer in order to really turn a house into a home. If you want a cookie-cutter spec home, you have come to the wrong place. If you want an affordable semi-custom home in which your tastes and preferences are incorporated, Brock Built is the place for you! Adam and Haley: We are a large and growing family built business that is truly passionate about the homes we build and the families we build for, year after year. We know that we are a building a family’s dream when we build a home, and we take that into consideration to set each home apart and incorporate the tastes of each individual buyer and future buyers. We are a ‘boutique builder’ and never build the same house twice. Q: What advice would you give home buyers as they make floor plan selections and begin to go through the homebuilding process? Bonnie and Jordan: Pick a floor plan that has the right feeling for you. Think about how you want to live in your house and go from there. Also, picking design selections is so exciting, but it can also be overwhelming. Don’t let it overwhelm you! Look at what you think you may want beforehand, but definitely keep an open mind when you go into a meeting with our design team. Also, take the advice of the professionals who are there to work with you and for you. Colors look very different when they are on a little swatch of paper and when they are on a whole house. Jeff: Drive all the neighborhoods to see the variety of popular floor plans available per community. Options will sometimes vary by community, and if you fall in love with a particular plan that is not offered in the neighborhood location you prefer, please let us know. Sometimes we are able to accommodate your dream floor plan in the community you really want. Adam and Haley: Go into it having a very good idea of what you want in your home and for your family, know what rooms are most important to you and why. That way, you can select the floor plan that best fits your family’s needs.
