Memorial Day Events Across Atlanta to Honor Our Fallen Heroes

Memorial Day is a day to recognize and honor our fallen heroes. This day spent with loved ones serves as a reminder of the price others have paid for our freedom. As you prepare to make your weekend plans, here are three Memorial Day Events across Atlanta. At each of these events, you’ll be able to celebrate this wonderful nation as well as honor those who fought to make it what it is today.

Georgia Aquarium’s Military Salute

Families can head to the Georgia Aquarium on Monday, May 28 as it commemorates Memorial Day. Part of the aquarium’s Military Salute program, it hosts a special program of fallen soldiers each year. In the cafe seating area, you can view the Table of the Fallen Comrade. During your time in the Ocean Voyager gallery, you can also view the Battlefield Cross in front of the viewing window. There will be a program to honor fallen soldiers in the atrium at noon. Admission is free for all active and former military members. Their family members will also receive 30% off their admission.

Inaugural Atlanta Memorial Day 5K Classic

The Inaugural Atlanta Memorial Day 5K Classic will take place on Monday, May 28, 2018. The 5K is in honor of the men and women of the United States Armed Forces who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom. To pay tribute to the memory of those we have lost, the last mile of the race has been called The Soldiers Final Mile. The race will take place at Woodruff Park in Downtown Atlanta.

Memorial Day at the Atlanta Braves

The Atlanta Braves will play a double-header at home on Memorial Day. During their Military Appreciation Day, there will be a pre-game ceremony before the 1:10 game against the Mets. With the purchase of a ticket to the game, fans will receive an Atlanta Braves hat as well as make a $3 donation to the USO of Georgia. Fans who attend the second game of the day can stay for the free post-game concert afterward. The concert will feature four-time Grammy Award winners Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit.

We Will Never Forget

As you spend time with your loved ones, we hope you take the time to enjoy one of these events or other events happening in our area this Memorial Day. We will never forget those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice by giving their lives for our country. For those who have courageously served and continue to serve, thank you from everyone at Brock Built.
